D7100 and a 35mm 1.8 ! Yes I know, it's not full frame but photography is a hobby for me and hobbies are supposed to be fun. Plus at least I kept it affordable.
I don't really need full frame (at least right now) and the D7100 is pretty good (at least better than the D5100) in low light situations and thanks to the 35mm prime it's going to be a good combination.
The cheapest full frame was the D600 but the oil issue that everyone complains about was scaring me. I heard that some owners have sent it to Nikon repair center for 2 or 3 times and the oil spots keep coming back on the pictures after a few shots. So with that my interest in the D600 faded away. And the other full frames (D610, D800..) were too expensive.
So that left me with the cropped sensor cameras and I was hesitating between the new D5300 which is coming out next month or the D7100.
Seeing I was a D5100 user I loved the articulated LCD screen - awesome that you don't have to lay down on the floor or get in weird positions to frame a shot.. Plus the D5300 had a new 24mp sensor and gps/wifi built in. GPS was a top feature for me.
But on the other end the D7100 has a better body which is weather sealed like the D800!, has more camera controls and has less noise in low light situations.
So it all came up to: Articulated LCD + GPS vs Better body, camera controls, weather sealed, less noise. Because I can always buy a GPS adapter for the D7100 later the only good feature of the D5300 would be the LCD screen. So it ended being articulated lcd screen vs better body, camera controls, weather sealed, less noise. And that's the reason I ended up choosing the D7100!
However this means that my wide angle lens is gone (the Nikon 10-24mm), so no more wide angle shots for my landscapes
Can't wait for the battery to be completely charged!
